Madiiya
Madiiya is a mountain preserve community comprised of 45,000 acres of pristine, scenic land located within the Acoma Cultural Province about an hour west of Albuquerque. At an elevation ranging between 6,200 and 8,200 feet, the weather is perfect for a wide range of outdoor activities. It is also home to a 102-megawatt wind power site, which produces enough electricity to provide for our local community and another 27,000 homes. Plus, the amount of carbon emissions offset by the wind farm is equivalent to taking more than 38,000 cars off the road every year.
Madiiya is a living laboratory for history, archaeology, geology, biology and ecology. The area is filled with hundreds of ancient archaeological sites. And the area surrounding the preserve is arguably one of the most culturally and recreationally rich areas of the United States. The neighboring Pueblos of Acoma and Laguna are only minutes away.
Our open space design permanently protects more than 40,000 acres of pristine land. In addition, our contributions to water conservation, preservation of archaeological resources and wildlife habitat are models for future communities.
