Madiiya will be a mountain preserve community comprised of 45,000 acres of pristine, scenic land located within the Acoma Cultural Province about an hour west of Albuquerque. At elevation ranging between 6,200 and 8,200 feet, the weather is perfect for a wide range of outdoor activities and presents an opportunity for a rich, rural lifestyle. It is also home to a 102-megawatt wind power site, developed by NextEra Energy under a lease to Lobo Partners, LLC, an Everest-managed entity. This "wind farm" produces enough enough electricity to provide for the soon to come community and another 27,000 homes--and the amount of carbon emissions offset by the wind farm is equivalent to taking more than 38,000 cars off the road every year.
Madiiya will be a living laboratory for history, archaeology, geology, biology and ecology. The area has hundreds of intriguing archaeological sites and the region in general is arguably one of the most culturally and recreationally rich areas of the United States. Community design will be protective of open space and lead to better water conservation, preservation of archaeological resources and respect for wildlife habitat that we hope will be models for future communities.
